Lent: A Time For Following Christ And Growing In The Virtues

Lent: A Time For Following Christ And Growing In The Virtues

You are invited to participate in one 50 minute class that could be the difference between a dreary, unfulfilling, Lent and one that is alive and uplifting. Brief, practical, one question, daily meditations will be provided to guide you on your Lenten Pilgrimage. Facilitated by Wayne Vedeckis on Sunday, February 20th at 9:30AM in the school library.

During Lent, we are called to follow Jesus as he taught us about praying, fasting, and helping the poor. But, how can we do this? The virtues of faith, hope, and charity (love) are the keys for a Lent that will not be a burden but will bring about a transformation of our hearts to become more Christ-like. Hope to see you there!

Guardians of the Sacred Treasure

Guardians of the Sacred Treasure: Using Music to Defend and Preach the Faith

In speaking to the crowds during His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructs us, “For where your treasure us, there your heart will be also.” (Mt 6:21) In the Vatican II document Sacrosanctum Concilium we find these words: “The musical tradition of the Universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art.” This is so because music, an integral part of the Catholic Liturgy, has always fulfilled a dual purpose - it is both formative and expressive. In other words, we sing what we believe and we believe what we sing.

The class will be held on

1/9, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, & 2/20/2022

9:30am - 1015am in the Church Choir Room

Presented by Rhonda Rossano

Childcare is Available

How to Give Your Testimony Part 1

1 Peter 3:15 says, "but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence." If someone were to ask you why you're a Christian while in a check out line, could you do it? Whether you have a book's worth of how the Lord has worked in your life, or need help finding just one moment, I encourage you to come learn how to give your testimony in as little as 3 minutes. People can disagree with certain teachings you believe but that disagree with an experience you've had. Come learn how to evangelize and "always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you."

How to Give Your Testimony Part 2

Now that we've learned how to give our testimony, whether one on one or for a crowd, we're going to workshop them to make sure you are confident in sharing your testimony for the glory of God.

The great sacraments of the Church—Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, the Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders—have endured for thousands of years and structured countless lives. Everything in the Church’s life comes from and returns to them.

But there is far more to these ancient rites than meets the eye.

In this follow-up to The Mass, Bishop Barron looks at the great sacraments of the Church in all their theological depth, spiritual effects, and pastoral promise. The Sacraments will help you understand these signs and channels of grace and discover the secret behind their persistence down the ages: the presence and power of the Savior himself.
